X-ISS to Unveil New Release of DecisionHPC® Analytics Software at SC14
HOUSTON, Texas, 11 November 2014 – eXcellence in IS Solutions Inc. (X-ISS), a provider of High Performance Computing and Big Data solutions, today announced Version 14.2 of its DecisionHPC® business analytics software. New functionality gives DecisionHPC clients greater customization, improved usability, and easier access to critical cluster performance information.
X-ISS will officially release DecisionHPC 14.2 by year end and will be demonstrating several of the new capabilities in booth #3760 at SC14, an international conference of the HPC industry being held November 16-21, 2014, in New Orleans.
Introduced by X-ISS in 2013, DecisionHPC has been embraced by clients in the oil & gas and manufacturing sectors along with other organizations operating large HPC/Big Data clusters across multiple locations. It is a platform-neutral reporting and analytics SaaS solution which uses a single dashboard to gives insight into the value HPC is providing to the business. In addition to monitoring technical performance of clusters, schedulers and other resources worldwide, DecisionHPC adds intelligent analytics of current and historical data related to projects, users and applications.
“We developed DecisionHPC for organizations that want insight into their HPC clusters so they can determine how best to improve productivity, reduce costs and optimize the systems,” said X-ISS President Deepak Khosla.
DecisionHPC 14.2 offers several new features or functions that significantly facilitate its use and enhance value for clients:
Job Specific Metrics – Clients can now customize DecisionHPC to track business-level metrics within given jobs. These metrics can be customized and named (e.g. “Widget”) to keep track of how many products have been generated. This enables the HPC manager to drill down to business-level KPI’s.
Multiple User Profiles – The ‘Single Pane of Glass’ dashboard can be customized to show the information most desired by specific individuals or types of end user. For example, executives may need a dashboard view of worldwide cluster usage, while managers might need details pertaining only to their projects. There is no limit to the number of profile views that can be set up.
Email Batch Reports – Users no longer have to manually log into DecisionHPC to look at batch reports. With this release, the scheduled batch reports can now be delivered via email to the users.
Additional Scheduler Metrics – DecisionHPC clients can now select from a wider variety of scheduler metrics.
Enhanced Attribute Heat Maps – Color-coded heat maps that show attribute performance at a glance can now be filtered by users, applications, and projects. Developed for operations managers, the enhanced heat maps allow them to narrow their view of specific attributes.
“All of the enhancements in DecisionHPC 14.2 resulted from client feedback,” said Khosla. “We have made Release 14.2 more user-friendly so our clients have faster access to the HPC insights they need to keep their clusters running smoothly and profitably.”

HOUSTON, Texas, 14 May 2014 – eXcellence in IS Solutions Inc. (X-ISS), a provider of High Performance Computing (HPC) and Big Data solutions, will present “Cognitive Analytics for HPC Data Centers” during a live webinar hosted by the Society of HPC Professionals (SHPCP). The featured speaker will be Deepak Khosla, X-ISS founder and president.
The technical webinar is free, open to all, and will be held at 4 pm EDT on May 21, 2014. Please register today by clicking here or visit www.hpcsociety.org. The SHPCP webinar series is sponsored by Adaptive Computing.***The free webinar was recorded and may be viewed in its entirety here.***
The X-ISS presentation is geared toward HPC IT managers, CxOs, and project managers within organizations that have invested in HPC clusters and want to ensure their systems are running efficiently from both a technical and business perspective. The individuals managing these data centers typically struggle to answer operational questions that come from the system users and the enterprise executives, this webinar will address that challenge.
“Users may want to know why their jobs are running slowly, and executives want assurance their HPC utilization aligns with business goals,” says Khosla. “System administrators and managers have to answer these questions quickly and confidently.”
To answer these questions, Khosla will demonstrate the DecisionHPC® business analytics software introduced by X-ISS for cost-effective HPC cluster management. DecisionHPC is a platform-neutral SaaS solution that gives insight into the value HPC provides to the business in a ‘Single Pane of Glass’ dashboard related to projects, users and applications.
Khosla will demonstrate how insights into cluster performance can be used to answer operational questions relating to specific jobs and make real-time business decisions regarding cluster utilization.
Webinar takeaways will include:
- Project managers will learn to assess project performance against a budget,
- Cluster managers will learn about various metrics they can leverage, and
- CXOs will learn to evaluate resource allocation and determine if/when additional capacity is needed.
The Society of HPC Professionals (SHPCP) invited X-ISS to present because its DecisionHPC software can give the technical user community a better understanding of how HPC cluster performance impacts the bottom lines of their businesses.
SHPCP is a world-wide technical users group dedicated to the advancement, operations and utilization of HPC and supercomputing technologies and to promote the common business and technology interests of its members. The society hosts monthly webinar and roundtable events as well as an annual technical conference. Learn more at www.hpcsociety.org.

X-ISS Releases New DecisionHPC® Analytics Software for HPC and Big Data Clusters
HOUSTON, Texas, 29 April 2014 – eXcellence in IS Solutions Inc. (X-ISS), a provider of High Performance Computing and Big Data solutions, today released Version 14.1 of its DecisionHPC® business analytics software for complete HPC cluster management. Upgrades include more comprehensive cluster Scheduler Reports and an innovative Attribute Heat Map visualization capability.
Introduced by X-ISS in 2013, DecisionHPC is a platform-neutral SaaS solution which gives insight into the value HPC is providing to the business in a “Single Pane of Glass”. In addition to monitoring technical performance of clusters, schedulers and other resources, DecisionHPC adds intelligent business analytics related to projects, users and applications.
“Today more than ever, HPC Directors and technical staff need to make real-time business decisions based on data. DecisionHPC provides that additional insight with business analytics you can’t get anywhere else,” said Deepak Khosla, X-ISS President. “This solution enables HPC operations teams to understand how cluster performance is impacting the bottom line of the organization.”
A core capability of DecisionHPC is its ability to synthesize data from disparate hardware and software sources – including monitoring tools, resource managers, license managers and schedulers. With this in mind, X-ISS has added SGE/UGE scheduler integration and made overall improvements to scheduler reporting functionality. Version 14.1 offers a global view of queue usage and resource status as well as reporting capabilities that show how the configuration of cluster components varies across large geographically dispersed heterogeneous cluster environments.
“This previously unavailable information gives management new data on how well jobs are running on the cluster to ensure that projects have been matched with the right resource and pinpoints where productivity can be improved,” said Khosla.
This intuitive dashboard visualizes information relating to every aspect of system operations from the macro to the micro level. Color-coded Heat Maps have been expanded in the new release to represent both technical metrics as well as business attributes relating to configurations, users, projects and applications.
The Heat Map views show a graphical representation of cluster data where the individual values contained in a matrix are represented as colors showing which users, projects and applications are processing and where they are running on the system. A homogeneous map means everything is functioning normally, but a variance on a single node is immediately recognizable by showing up in a different color allowing technical or managerial staff to take immediate action.
Leveraging more than 15 years of experience in advanced computing, X-ISS developed DecisionHPC to enable HPC cluster operations teams to increase the profitability of their systems by identifying inefficiencies and reducing problems before they become critical. DecisionHPC enables management to understand how system capacity is being used by specific users and applications. In addition, business analytics assist organizations in modeling how new applications will impact cluster performance, thus providing insight to make well informed decisions on HPC capacity planning and expansion.
DecisionHPC has been embraced by clients in the oil & gas and manufacturing sectors along with other organizations operating large HPC/Big Data clusters across multiple locations.
